HYTOPIA brings back NFT Worlds with WORLDS, now in public browser alpha

hytopia brings back nft worlds with worlds now in public browser alpha In Brief:

In Brief:

  • HYTOPIA has made WORLDS available as a public alpha that runs in the browser at worldsalpha.com.
  • According to the team, WORLDS is “the original NFT Worlds WRLD $0.0001397 ▲ +4.2% vision, built from the ground up by us,” with “No Minecraft baggage.”
  • The project began in 2021 as NFT Worlds on Minecraft and turned into HYTOPIA once Mojang banned blockchain integration in July 2022.

WORLDS, a new HYTOPIA game that the studio says revives the original NFT Worlds idea, is now in public alpha. It plays in a browser.

The announcement went out on X early on Oct. 17, with a link to the build at worldsalpha.com.

It’s time we go back to our roots.

“In 2021 we started as NFT Worlds. Then we became HYTOPIA. It’s time we go back to our roots,” the team wrote. “This is WORLDS: the original NFT Worlds vision, built from the ground up by us. No Minecraft baggage.”

What the alpha includes

There isn’t much on the alpha site beyond a single game canvas. You won’t find a landing page, a roadmap or a written explainer.

Controls shown on screen follow the usual voxel pattern: WASD to move, Space to jump, Shift to run. A left click breaks blocks. A right click places whichever block is selected, opens doors or starts a conversation with an expedition guide character.

No date was given for WORLDS to leave alpha. HYTOPIA’s post was also silent on how the game connects to the existing HYTOPIA platform, the TOPIA token or the HYTOPIA Worlds NFT collection.

From a Minecraft server to an in-house engine

NFT Worlds went live in October 2021 as a web3 project layered on Minecraft, and players got into its worlds through the game’s servers.

That arrangement ended in July 2022, when Mojang banned blockchain integration in Minecraft. The team responded by building an engine and platform of its own, then rebranded as HYTOPIA.

Delphi Digital put $3 million into HYTOPIA. The Worlds NFT collection is made up of 10,000 worlds, and holders get the right to build playable experiences on the platform. Later on, the project switched chains from Polygon to Arbitrum.

HYTOPIA’s first browser alpha

The team has run a browser alpha before. HYTOPIA's platform alpha opened in early 2025 and was announced in a blog update dated March 4, 2025.

Players in that build could register, claim usernames, browse games, join regional servers and add friends. A community game jam supplied many of the games. At launch it had no marketplace, no locker system for in-game assets and no token integrations.

HYTOPIA has since demonstrated AI tools that let creators build maps, add enemies and scoring, and publish a game to a browser URL, all within one session.

The WORLDS post closed with a brief call to players: “The public alpha is playable in your browser now. See for yourself.”
