Pakistan’s government, through its Crypto Council led by the well-known Changpeng Zhao, aka CZ, has announced a new plan to use the country’s extra electricity to power Bitcoin mining farms and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
In his role, CZ will help guide the country on how to build blockchain infrastructure, improve regulations, and support crypto-based innovations, while this strategy is also designed to improve energy efficiency and make use of unused infrastructure while supporting the growth of digital technologies in the country.
The project will place mining facilities in areas that regularly produce more electricity than needed. These regions will be used to run large-scale crypto mining operations and AI workloads that require constant computing power. The goal is to reduce energy waste while creating new opportunities in blockchain and AI industries.
Pakistan is home to an estimated 15 to 20 million crypto users and ranks among the top freelance economies worldwide. The government plans to build on this strong foundation by making it easier for users and developers to participate in the digital economy.
