US-based web3 game developer Neon Machine has recently revealed significant staffing restructures as they gear up to launch their highly anticipated game, Shrapnel, in 2025.
To enhance the team’s expertise in execution areas such as live-ops, retention features, game progression, and marketplace, Neon Machine has welcomed Ken Rosman as the new CEO. With previous experience at Microsoft’s Xbox division working on titles like Halo Wars and Sunset Overdrive, Rosman is expected to bring valuable insights to the studio.
Moreover, Dave Johnson has taken over as project lead, replacing former CTO and studio head Don Norbury. Norbury will now shift his focus to the studio’s development tools.
While the studio is undergoing these leadership changes, legal issues involving six of Neon Machine’s co-founding directors, including former CEO Mark Long and controlling shareholder Cort Javarone, remain unresolved.
The lawsuit filed by some directors against Javarone, who is the founder and CEO of 4D Factory Inc, has added a layer of complexity to the situation.
In addition to the staffing adjustments, Neon Machine is also in the process of raising new funding, with a recent announcement of a $20 million series A round at the end of 2023.
