This week Upland flipped the switch on driveways, introducing a new category into the property-customization system it dubs the Core Decor Catalog.
In a post on X, the company said players can choose among three driveway styles. Upland presented the launch as a quicker way to alter how properties look, positioning driveways as the first in a series of foundational decor pieces yet to arrive.

Part of a longer visual push
The driveways fit into a wider campaign to reshape Upland’s appearance. That initiative launched in December 2025, when the game introduced roads throughout its opened cities and started deploying weather along with a revised color palette intended to lend the map a more unified look.
Over the past year, property decor has ranked among the game’s busiest areas. Upland held a series of build contests across 2025 and 2026, among them a Harvest Season challenge in the fall and a Wonderland Decor Challenge in January that staked 1,000,000 UPX and scored submissions by how they appeared in the game’s point-of-view mode.
Those building blocks reside in the Core Decor Catalog. It spans map assets like decor, fixtures and statues, together with structure ornaments and vehicles, each rendered as 3D objects placed on properties that correspond to real-world addresses.
How the pieces get made
Producing decor items in Upland involves staking Sparklet, the game’s utility token. Sparklet is an ERC-20 token that bridges to and from EOS, the chain Upland has operated on since its 2019 launch. Back in June 2024, the game swapped all of its older Spark token for Sparklet at a 1-to-1,000 ratio.
Construction timelines rely on a system Upland tracks in Spark hours, and the Sparklet required to finish a structure or item may shift from quarter to quarter. Upland didn’t disclose the cost or build time for driveways.
Properties that are fully decorated can now be sold as bundles — a marketplace feature Upland introduced in 2025 that allows a buyer to acquire a completed build instead of piecing one together asset by asset.
Background
Upland is a virtual property game where players purchase, trade and develop parcels linked to real addresses across dozens of replica cities. Its in-game currency, UPX, is fixed at 1,000 UPX to $1 and is acquired inside the game rather than on exchanges. Sparklet, supported by Animoca, trades publicly and appears on exchanges including Bitget.
Through a partnership with Tilia Pay, a Linden Lab subsidiary, the game allows eligible players to cash properties out into U.S. dollars. Upland has stated that players have collectively earned over $20 million so far.
