WeMade, the South Korean game publisher best known for its Legend of Mir franchise and WEMIX blockchain platform, has invested $7.2 million into Studio Rasa, a new console-focused development studio.
The deal secures WeMade a 25% stake in the company along with global publishing rights for its first title, Project IL, planned for release in 2028.
Studio Rasa and Project IL
Studio Rasa was founded in June by three award-winning developers: CEO Chang Kyu Noh, Project Director Tae-yeon Kim, and Art Director Hyeon Kim.
The team previously earned the Grand Award at the 2023 Korea Game Awards and now aims to establish itself as a major player in console gaming. With WeMade’s support, the studio will expand its team, build a prototype, and prepare the artistic direction of Project IL, a high-end console game still in early development.
Console Expansion Strategy
WeMade CEO Kwan-ho Park emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Studio Rasa, noting the goal of bringing Korean-made console titles to North American and European audiences.
Unlike many of WeMade’s recent projects, this partnership does not involve blockchain features. Instead, it highlights a push into premium console games as part of the company’s broader diversification strategy.
The investment follows a pattern of WeMade backing promising developers. Previous stakes include collaborations with Shift Up, Lionheart Studio, and MadNgine. By targeting studios across different genres and platforms, WeMade continues to build a stronger presence in both the domestic and global gaming industries.
Ongoing Web3 Ambitions
While making moves in the console sector, WeMade is also expanding its blockchain ecosystem. Its WEMIX PLAY platform recently added new web3 titles, such as Legend of YMIR, which launched global pre-registration last week, and ROM: Golden Age, which surpassed four million sign-ups earlier this month.
These projects demonstrate WeMade’s dual strategy: investing in traditional premium games while continuing to grow its token-based economy and blockchain infrastructure.
By supporting Studio Rasa’s console ambitions alongside new blockchain-driven MMORPGs, WeMade positions itself as a publisher working on both sides of the industry.
If Project IL succeeds in 2028, the company will gain a valuable entry into the global console market, complementing its strong presence in mobile, PC, and web3 gaming.
