Retium has opened its public testnet, with the Retium Wallet shipping as the rollout’s opening stage. The wallet can be reached at wallet.retium.org.

Timing-wise, the launch is on target. August 2026 was the window Retium’s roadmap gave for the wallet and the public testnet faucet, with Aug. 1 pencilled in for stage one. Some earlier posts had hinted at a late-July arrival.

Discord gating on the faucet

To get moving on the network, testers claim test $RTM. That claim is gated behind a verified Discord account rather than a wallet address or IP — a choice the team said is intended to stop mass wallet creation and faucet farming.

That same gate doubles as a support channel, letting the team handle testers one-on-one through dedicated tickets. Anyone taking part joins the official Discord and climbs to the “newbie” role before claiming is possible. Membership on the server sits at roughly 15,977.

What testers are connecting to

Built from the ground up in Rust, Retium is a Layer-1 whose block IDs are derived from prime number factorization — what the team labels Prime Number Linking Architecture. Block 15, for instance, factors to 3 x 5, so its links run to blocks 3 and 5.

At any moment somewhere between three and 20 blocks remain open, with transactions handled in parallel instead of queued. A mempool doesn’t exist here. Transactions go directly into open blocks, an arrangement Retium claims rules out front-running and MEV extraction by design. Rather than bids, fee weighting follows transaction size.

Three roles divide up validation. Workers confirm that a given transaction is legitimate and safe to execute. Keepers rerun the same mathematical result from identical inputs, and consensus comes from majority agreement. Coordinating finality are five Suits per sealed block, which broadcast the verdict marking a block HardFinal.

According to the team, the model makes forks mathematically impossible — there is no mining race, no leader election and no longest-chain rule.

None of that has been verified independently. Retium’s cited figure of 3,000 to 5,000 transactions per second is a projection rather than a mainnet-verified number, and the project has announced no public security audit. Its whitepaper is hosted at docs.retium.org.

The gaming angle

The pitch to developers centres on WASM smart contracts as a route to embed chain logic directly into games. Alongside gaming, the project’s target list names DeFi, DAOs, NFTs and real-world assets, and roadmap phase five deals with expansion into RWA, gaming, AI and enterprise applications.

Token terms

The supply cap is fixed: 1,000,000,000 RTM at 18 decimals. Minting stops at genesis, and Retium says the cap can’t be lifted by any admin key, governance vote or emergency function. Transaction fees, staking, contract interactions and value transfer all run on RTM.

Staking produces a second asset, $Pie, which exists no other way. Staking RTM mints Pie 1:1; unstaking burns the Pie and returns the RTM.

Per the project, there is no team allocation, no early-validator supply and no insider discounts — every RTM reaches circulation through what Retium calls the Safehouse, on identical terms for all. Funding for development, security, ecosystem grants and operations comes from a Treasury share of 5.5% of all transaction fees.

That model was finalized in a post last month. “Retium’s business model and tokenomics are now finalised. After careful review, we deliberately chose not to follow the typical crypto path of discounted token sales, insider allocations, and speculation. Instead, our focus is on building a strong, sustainable foundation for” adoption by users, businesses, developers, financial institutions and AI applications, the team said.

Further out, an explorer beta is set for October 2026, trailed by a public $RTM coin reservation round, a developer SDK testnet release in December 2026 and a validator testnet in March 2027. A private vesting round is currently open, and the team said it is finalizing an AFSL licence application.

As for the name, it derives from “rete” — Latin for net, mesh or network.
