The Dark Tera-type Kingambit occupying Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s raid rotation disappears on September 3, 2026, and once it’s missing from your save file, that’s permanent. If you’ve been meaning to boot up a four-year-old game, here’s the reason.
The 92nd raid is also one of the easiest
Count it up: this is the 92nd Tera Raid in the game’s history, a number that says plenty about how tirelessly Game Freak has kept churning these out. It went live August 28th, 2026, and stars a 7-Star Kingambit carrying the Dark Tera type. Players who have already cleared it say it’s relatively easy to beat next to earlier Tera Raid battles.
So no, there’s no need for a spreadsheet-optimized counter build and three friends on a voice call. You just need to show up.
What you actually have to do
Step one is downloading the latest Poké Portal News. Skip it and the raid simply won’t show up. After that, take on the raid boss with friends or other players, win, and catch it with any Poké Ball. Any one at all. The game won’t force you to burn a Master Ball on this.
It’s limited to one per save file, so grinding isn’t part of the deal. Do it once and you’re finished.
The Kingambit family is everywhere right now
Running alongside the raid are Mass Outbreaks of Kingambit in the Kitakami region, which is only reachable through the Teal Mask DLC. Bisharp and Pawniard, meanwhile, are getting outbreaks of their own back in Paldea. All of those Pokémon are more likely to carry the Charismatic Mark for the duration of the event, the sort of detail that matters enormously to one specific type of player and not at all to everyone else. You know which one you are.
A long goodbye that hasn’t quite ended
The pair launched all the way back in 2022, and people are still logging in for events. That pace will taper off eventually, and Winds and Waves is the reason why. We’ve been predicting that slowdown for a while now, and yet the raids keep arriving.
Credit where it’s due: four somewhat rough years in, the support hasn’t stopped, and it’s landing right in the middle of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations. This year alone has piled up a stack of Tera Raid battles, the kind where you fight a strong Pokémon and, if you win, stuff it into a box that keeps getting fuller.
The Winds and Waves era is on the way and these raids will likely thin out once Game Freak turns its attention there. But that’s a problem for later. Right now a Dark Tera-type Kingambit is waiting, and by September 3 it isn’t waiting anymore.
