Two days before Season 0 goes live, RavenQuest published a rundown of the changes it has made to Fortune’s Frontier since last weekend’s stress test.

In a post on X, the team wrote: “Since the Stress Test, we’ve been hard at work on balance changes, gameplay improvements, and fixes, many of them straight from your feedback.”

The studio asked players to read the update notes before launch. “Don’t be caught off guard! Check out everything that’s changed so you know what to expect,” the post said. The post itself didn’t list any specific changes.

Launch timing

Season 0 begins Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. PT, which is 3 p.m. UTC. Clan Leaderboards also open that day.

The official account said Knighter will host a launch party on the RavenQuest Twitch channel at 7 a.m. PT, one hour before the servers go live, and viewers can win giveaways.

The Fortune’s Frontier site promises “Over $10,000 in Season Rewards.” Players who pre-registered at ff.ravenquest.io/register got beta access and could reserve their names early.

What the stress test covered

Tavernlight opened the mode to everyone on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. PT. Players used their existing accounts to join through the PTR Launcher, and the session was expected to run about two hours.

The studio said the test was not a full preview of the mode. Its focus was a single system called Map Sharding and Channel Scalability, which divides map regions across several channels and adjusts capacity up or down depending on how many players are in each one.

Tavernlight said the aim was to put that tech under heavier player loads, see how it performed, find bottlenecks and make adjustments before launch. All progression from the stress test will be wiped before Season 0.

How the mode works

Fortune’s Frontier is an extraction mode built for solo players and duos. Players who go in alone receive a Lone Wolf buff.

The mode takes place in the Pirate Isles, around the wreck of The Dawn of Fortune. Its treasures are spread across three islands: Sajecho, Harbor and Gilead. Each island is riskier than the last, from “Safe” zones up to “Full-Drop” PvP.

The official site lists the tiers as no-PvP, partial-loot PvP and full-loot PvP. On the lower-risk islands, a player who dies loses only their loot. In the higher-risk zones they can lose their gear as well, but the rewards there are rarer.

Each run is about fighting enemies, gathering Treasure Pouches and escaping alive. Any loot a player gets out with turns into Silver and seasonal rewards.

Players create new characters for the mode, and those characters start at an advanced level. Builds are made from Munk Songs, equipment and Trinkets, and an Energy system limits excessive grinding.

Seasons, Emblems and $QUEST

Every season runs two weeks. Solo and Clan Leaderboards reset each cycle, and so does progress in the mode.

Some things carry over, though. Players keep their top Ravencards and all of their cosmetics from one season to the next.

Emblems work as boosters. New players can use them for XP and gear boosts starting on day one, while veterans can spend them on exclusive rewards. Emblems also count toward the following Frontier season.

The season reward pool is linked to the $QUEST ecosystem. Players who move from Fortune’s Frontier into the main game can spend QUEST there, and QUEST activity feeds the token’s buyback and burn cycles.

Background

Tavernlight announced Fortune’s Frontier on March 25. RavenQuest is a free-to-play sandbox MMORPG built on Immutable. It is available on PC through Epic and Steam and also has an Android client.

Ahead of the season, the community site RavenGuardian.com put out a Fortune’s Frontier Build Planner.

When the mode was announced, Tavernlight CEO Nicolas Schrik described it as a fix for a problem common in MMOs.

“Fortune’s Frontier is our answer to the ‘progression wall’ often found in MMOs. By creating a seasonal, skill-based environment, we’ve built a perfect entry point for the millions of players to join us, while giving our veterans a high-stakes challenge where every decision matters,” Schrik said.
