In Brief:
- M-Tech Entertainment brought Battle For Giostone back on Oct. 18, three days after the date the studio had promised. It now runs in the browser on PC and mobile, with nothing to download.
- The studio is making up for the delay with a two-week Launch Season running through Nov. 1. It pays $5,000 in GBFG to the top 100 ranked players on the EU and SEA servers.
- The BFG token is not live yet. For now the game uses GBFG, and the studio said holders can swap it for BFG after the token launches.

In a post on X, the studio wrote: “The gates are open.” It added: “We launch three days late, so we added a 2-week Launch Season: $5,000 in GBFG for the top 100 in EU and SEA.”
Inside the Launch Season
The EU and SEA servers each get half of the pool, $2,500 apiece. A share goes to the top 100 names on each server’s leaderboard.
The event kicked off with the Oct. 18 launch and runs until Nov. 1. MMR sets each player’s place on the leaderboard.
The event rules explain it in one line: “Win ranked matches and it goes up; lose and it goes down.”
To qualify, players need to play ranked on either the EU or SEA server and complete at least 10 ranked matches within the two weeks. The FAQ uses the same figure for placement matches, and a player’s rank reads Unplaced until they’ve played their first 10 ranked matches in a season.
Any Hero a player owns can be taken into ranked, including the free Hero handed out at signup.
Payouts are identical on both servers. The winner takes $400, the runner-up $250 and third place $150. Fourth and fifth earn $100 each, sixth through 10th earn $60, and 11th through 20th earn $35. Places 21 through 50 receive $15, and 51 through 100 receive $8.
Prizes are paid in GBFG and land in player accounts once the two weeks are over.
GBFG for now, BFG down the line
GBFG is the currency used inside the game. The FAQ lists 250 GBFG for a ranked win and 25 GBFG for an unranked win. A loss earns nothing.
On Oct. 18, launch day, the studio also posted BFG tokenomics. Total supply is 150,000,000 BFG. Players collect GBFG from matches, spend it to forge Heroes and can sell those Heroes to other players on the marketplace, where sellers keep 95% of the sale price.
“The BFG token is not out yet,” the studio said. “For now the game runs on GBFG, our in-game currency. When BFG launches, you can swap your GBFG for it.”
According to the studio, details of the swap will be published before it opens.
Anyone holding the original BFG token will receive an equal amount of the new BFG token, the studio said, and Genesis Hero owners will get back every Genesis Hero they own.
A 2022 game, rebuilt
M-Tech, which is based in Bogdanci, revealed the return on Sept. 11, saying it was rebuilding the game “from the ground up, for the browser.”
At the time, the studio wrote: “Four years after the first pre-alpha tournament, the Giostone is waking up.”
The basic rules are the same as before. Two teams of five play matches fixed at 30 minutes that finish in a shrinking arena. Gio spawns three times, and three stones decide which team holds the power. Each Hero has four equipment slots, filled with abilities drawn from six classes.
The six original Heroes have all returned: Akuma, Lucius, Gogmangog, Gurluk, Ranvir and Auri. They keep the models the studio made in 2022 but have new portraits. The game has 47 abilities on record.
Forging works as it did. A player chooses a class, then picks one ability each for the hands, legs and body, plus an ultimate for the head. Abilities are strongest on their own class and weaker on any other.
The original BFG token went live in October 2022 following an IEO on Avalaunch, and the game hit pre-alpha that November. Later alpha builds required players to download a launcher.
The September announcement also said Season 1 of the Primal Giostone League would come after the play button.
The FAQ says matchmaking pairs players by rating within the same mode and region. If few players are online, the studio said, AI players may fill out matches.
The tokenomics post ended with a warning: “There is no BFG on sale today. If anyone offers you BFG before we announce it here and on X (@BFGiostone), it is not ours.”
