In Brief:
- Ronin wants Abstract’s users and creators to move over to its network before the Ethereum layer 2 goes dark on Dec. 15, 2026.
- Ronin is asking creators affected by the shutdown to share their work, and says a creator program update is coming for both current and new creators on the chain.
- Abstract had more than 400,000 users and 144-plus apps. L2BEAT data shows about $48 million in assets still sat on the chain shortly before the shutdown was announced.
Ronin is making a play for the users and creators of Abstract, the Ethereum layer 2 that Igloo Inc. plans to close on Dec. 15.
In a post on X, Ronin wrote: “Abstract onboarded legions of people to our industry. If you’re one of them, you may be wondering where to move your funds.”
Creators affected by this shutdown: we want to support you.

The same post continued: “Bridge to Ronin and discover the home of Web3 gaming, AI-powered builders, and Axie Infinity (official site).”
Creator program update
Ronin then posted a follow-up aimed squarely at creators.
“Creators affected by this shutdown: we want to support you,” the network wrote. “Share your favorite piece of content below.”
It added that “a creator program update is on the way for current and new creators on Ronin,” with a link to creators.roninchain.com. Ronin gave no date for the update and no details on what it would change.
Abstract’s deadline
Abstract revealed the closure on X on Oct. 6, close to three years after development on the chain started. Operations end Dec. 15, 2026.
Assets can be moved through the Migration Hub at migrate.abs.xyz or through the native bridge at native-bridge.abs.xyz, where transfers take roughly three hours.
“Any users that do not migrate their assets by this date will lose access to their funds,” the project warned. No extension has been announced. Abstract has also told users to ignore impersonation attempts and unofficial migration links.
During the wind-down, the team said, it will help third-party apps move to other networks.
Why Igloo is pulling the plug
According to Abstract, a chain focused solely on consumer crypto couldn’t keep itself going. It cited thin liquidity, a limited DeFi ecosystem, weak institutional crossover and a smaller budget than its rivals.
Luca Netz, Igloo’s CEO, said the company had bankrolled Abstract for the past 18 months and lost “tens of millions of dollars” in the process.
Igloo won’t launch an Abstract token to keep the chain alive. Its resources are shifting to Pudgy Penguins, the Pudgy NFTs and PENGU.
What’s leaving the chain
Over its run, Abstract brought on more than 400,000 users and over 144 applications, and it handled more than 300 million transactions. Disney and Red Bull Racing were both on the chain.
Some of Abstract’s games are moving their assets to Ethereum mainnet or to other networks ahead of the cutoff. Anyone who never bridged assets to Abstract is unaffected.
Ronin’s own wind-down
Ronin’s pitch comes as it closes one of its own products. The Waypoint keyless wallet shuts down permanently when its final grace period expires at 15:00 UTC on Oct. 31, 2026.
Only users who had already flagged migration problems on X, Discord or through a support ticket are covered by that grace period.
