mattle run v4 2 0 adds glowing mobs weapon lights and a pumpkin lantern to blackout mode In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Mattle Run’s v4.2.0 update will bring new lighting features to Blackout Mode, according to MattleFun, with chests and weapons that give off light and mob eyes that glow.
  • Scarecrows also get lighting support, and a new item called the Pumpkin Lantern adds +40% light radius.
  • No release date has been set. The team only said the update is “coming very soon.”

Version 4.2.0 of Mattle Run will rework how lighting works in Blackout Mode. Mattle Run is the survival game at the heart of MattleFun’s Solana trading platform.

In a post on X, the team wrote: “Blackout Mode is getting major upgrades in v4.2.0, coming very soon.”

There was no date in the post, no patch notes, and nothing on whether web and mobile players will get the update at the same time.

What’s in the patch

Four changes were listed. Scarecrows now support lighting. Chests and weapons will light up their surroundings, and mobs will have eyes that glow in the dark.

The last addition is an item. Equipping the Pumpkin Lantern raises a player’s light radius by 40%.

The team hasn’t explained how players get the lantern, whether it stacks with other items or whether it works outside Blackout Mode. It also gave no detail on how the new lighting affects scoring.

Timing

v4.2.0 lands during Mattle Run Season 19, which the project has named its Night Season. This Halloween-themed season started Oct. 21 and ends Nov. 20, 2026.

Up for grabs this season are 700,000 MATTLE, 600 Mattle Keys and 5,000 Medals, which the project valued at roughly $5,000 in total. Season 19 is also the first to use two separate tables: a Main Rank based on total points, and a Skill Rank.

That pool tops earlier seasons. Season 17 in August offered 500,000 MATTLE plus 100,000 SKR, and Season 15 paid out 400,000 MATTLE across its top 200 players.

It’s still unclear whether Blackout Mode results will count on either Season 19 leaderboard.

How the game works

Mattle Run has players dodging monsters, picking up gems to level up and holding off enemy waves that keep getting bigger. The modes listed most often are Normal, Hard and Cursed.

A Normal run lasts 10 minutes at standard pace and carries a 1,000-point win bonus. Hard halves the timer to five minutes, speeds things up to 120% pace and pays a 4,000-point bonus. Cursed runs for 10 minutes with player stats cut to 80%, and its bonus is 1,500 points.

Trading and gameplay are linked. Volume traded through the built-in terminal becomes Boosting Points, which raise Health, Defense, Movement and Luck. Points earned in runs can then be converted into MATTLE.

Anyone can play for free, but turning points into tokens needs the Mattle Game Pass. The pass costs 0.03 SOL and gives 20 energy per day for runs.

Release pattern

Some earlier versions have come to web before mobile. With Mattle Run v3.2.0, the team said the update was “officially live on web” and that the “Mobile version update will roll out in the coming days.”

Players can access the game through the web app at app.mattle.fun or the Android app on Google Play.
