In Brief:
- MapleStory Universe (official site) will launch Moonbridge, the opening area of Tenebris, along with a new boss called Gloom on Nov. 12, according to an 11-post X thread from COO Keith.
- December is the target for Darknell and Verus Hilla, and the Black Mage is now planned for the first quarter of 2027. That breaks the “Black Mage in 2026” timeline Keith gave in March.
- From November, growth events will hand out better rewards. Nexpace is also building Dynamic Pricing for enhancement costs and changing how gear and cosmetics flow into the economy.
Moonbridge, the first area of Tenebris, opens in MapleStory Universe on Nov. 12, and it brings a new boss named Gloom. It’s the starting point of the road to the Black Mage, though that fight won’t land this year.
Keith, the game’s chief operating officer, laid out the plan Monday across 11 posts on X. The thread confirmed what he’d hinted at in a teaser he referred to as “that mood post.”

“It’s Moonbridge, the first area of Tenebris. It arrives on November 12 alongside a new boss, Gloom. This is where the expedition toward the Black Mage begins,” Keith said.
Black Mage moves into 2027
Once Gloom is out, Darknell is next, followed by Verus Hilla. Both are slated for December. The Black Mage comes after them, in the first quarter of 2027.
That’s later than the date Keith gave publicly earlier in the year.
“Back in March I tweeted ‘Black Mage in 2026.’ We won’t make that timeline. My bad,” Keith said. “We want to get this fight right, and I owe you clearer updates on our progress.”
Prizes for the first clears
Endless Terror rings and exclusive Gloom-themed cosmetics go to the first three parties that beat Gloom. The party that gets there first also receives exclusive stat-boosting medals, and the team intends to put statues of their characters into the game in the patch after.
The complete reward list will be shared at launch. Each party can have up to three players.
“We want those first Gloom clears to be remembered,” Keith said.
The player base still has ground to cover
Keith also shared progression numbers that show how far most players are from the endgame. Getting the Black Mage’s full damage bonus takes a Level 280 character with 1,320 Arcane Power, and hitting 1,320 requires maxed Arcane Symbols in every region.
For accounts that were active between Oct. 16 and 29, the median character sat at Level 222 with 230 Arcane Power. In the top 5% by level, the median was Level 252 with 1,140 Arcane Power.
“Even our highest-level group has more progress to make toward the Black Mage,” Keith said.
Growth events and upcoming systems
Nexpace is refreshing its growth events, with better rewards from November. It’s also adding a pass system, daily check-in rewards and products that include growth supplies. Part of that arrives with the Nov. 12 update, and the rest follows later.
“These are endgame fights, so building your character is part of the challenge. We want growth support to make that preparation more manageable,” Keith said.
Beyond content, the team is building Dynamic Pricing so enhancement costs stay more stable. Work is also under way on how gear enters the game economy, with the aim of matching supply to demand, and on how cosmetic items are supplied. Keith said later threads will go into those systems.
Background
Tenebris in Nexon’s PC version of MapleStory is split into three areas: Moonbridge, Labyrinth of Suffering and Limina. Gloom is the last boss of Moonbridge.
MapleStory Universe’s official account sent followers to the thread with the line, “Behind the scenes updates from our COO Keith start here.”
One player asked under the post, “How about 6th job?” The thread gave no answer. Keith signed off with two words: “Back to work!”
