The Somnia Foundation has unveiled full details of its native $SOMI token, along with the first airdrop allocation designed to reward early testnet users, developers, creators, and community members.
An eligibility checker is now live, allowing participants to confirm if they qualify for rewards.
Role of $SOMI in the Ecosystem
$SOMI will be the core utility token for the Somnia network. It covers gas fees, enables staking for validator roles, and will later be used for community governance.
To ensure sustainability, the total supply is capped at 1 billion tokens, with 10% allocated to validators and 50% of gas fees burned to support a deflationary model.
Airdrop Eligibility and Distribution
Somnia’s airdrop is designed to reward active supporters of the network. Testnet users who took part in quests and provided feedback will receive the largest share, around 4.33% of the total supply.
Creators who built content and promoted the ecosystem are allocated 0.38%, while SomniYaps holders and Quills NFT owners will also receive special rewards.
The initial airdrop represents 5% of the total supply. To avoid immediate sell-offs, 20% of the tokens will unlock instantly, with the remaining 80% released over 60 days through weekly mainnet quests.
However, key supporters with SomniYaps, Quills NFTs, or certain Discord roles will receive their rewards fully unlocked from the start.
Network Growth and Performance
Somnia has been steadily building momentum since early 2024. Its Devnet surpassed performance expectations with speeds reaching over 1 million transactions per second, while the “Shannon” Testnet processed more than 2 billion transactions with support from 60 validators and 70 projects.
The airdrop marks the beginning of Somnia’s token economy. Another 8% of the supply is reserved for future incentives, ensuring more rewards for developers, creators, and active community members. The team also announced Somnia Mines, a new initiative aimed at deepening user interaction with the ecosystem, although details remain under wraps.
How to Check Eligibility
Users can confirm their airdrop status through Somnia’s official checker tool. Successful participants will be able to claim rewards by completing mainnet quests during the claim window, which lasts 90 days. Tokens not claimed within this period will return to the ecosystem fund for future community programs.
With $SOMI now introduced, Somnia continues its push to build a scalable, community-driven network focused on real-time web3 applications.
