In Brief
- Enjin will activate the Sentosa upgrade on December 8, 2025 across both the Relaychain and Matrixchain.
- The update introduces Coretime, new bridging tools, asset conversion features, fuel tank revisions and automated background tasks.
- The testnet release has already been active, giving teams time to adapt to the upcoming mainnet changes.
Enjin is getting ready to deploy its Sentosa upgrade in December, a network update intended to refine chain performance and expand the feature set available to developers, players and marketplace users. Both chains in the Enjin ecosystem will receive major changes, marking one of the most extensive improvements the project has delivered in recent years.
Changes coming to the Relaychain
The Relaychain will transition to Coretime scheduling, which restructures how resources are ordered and processed. The destruction period for nomination pools will be reduced to twenty eight days, and the bonus cycle system will be removed to simplify staking management.
The upgrade also brings automated off chain workers, which will take care of routine operations such as distributing validator rewards and clearing out expired marketplace items. These tasks currently happen on chain, so the shift aims to reduce congestion and speed up network activity.
Upgrades for the Matrixchain
On the Matrixchain, Sentosa adds a Hyperbridge pallet that allows movement of assets between chains within the Enjin environment. A new asset conversion pallet will act as a built in token conversion tool, helping users swap assets without relying on external platforms.
Fuel tank improvements will let users operate without holding an existential deposit. Tanks will also have expiry and removal options to keep the system more efficient.
A revised auction feature will extend the bidding window whenever a late bid is placed, helping prevent last second sniping in the marketplace.
Why Sentosa is significant
The Sentosa upgrade aims to strengthen Enjin’s position in Web3 by expanding utility for developers and players. The new systems focus on efficiency, automation and cleaner asset management, all of which are important for games, marketplaces and applications built on the network.
By reducing friction in staking, improving marketplace fairness and enabling direct asset conversion, the update is expected to create a smoother experience for both everyday users and large scale builders.
What to expect during rollout
Node operators will be required to update their clients in order to stay in sync with the network. Transaction submission may temporarily pause during the upgrade window as the Relaychain and Matrixchain finalise their transitions. Developers working with staking, scheduling, fuel tanks or marketplace features should review their current setup and adjust to the new logic introduced by Sentosa.
