Calamity is being rebuilt as a full MMO. The team shared the news on X on Oct. 29, promising “One shared open world” along with biomes, world bosses, talents, mounts, professions and player-crafted gear.
Two dates came with the announcement. Q4 2026 is when Echo Rifts and Dragon Dominion PvP should arrive, and the open beta is pencilled in for January or February 2027.

When a player asked in the replies about the new content, the Calamity account answered: “It is in testing mode, and the game modes are incoming 🫡”
Ronin Network weighed in too. “We cannot wait to play!” its account wrote. Calamity replied: “We hope that players will love the updates! 🙏”
What the beta covers
Calamity’s site has a “Road to the MMO” page laying out the plan. The beta includes four biomes split into eight zones for levels 1 to 35. The biomes are the Outskirts, the Forests, the Crypts and the Swamps.
Seven world bosses are listed, and three more are in production. Rotfang, the Rat King, Elder Grizzly, the Necromancer, the Leshen and the Swamp Witch are among them.
According to the roadmap, the beta runs for two months with a level cap of 35. The main release is meant to cover levels 1 to 60. Progress made in the beta will be reset, and the team said there will be no wipes once the main release is live.
When shared zones get crowded they split into layers. Every three to five days each zone regenerates with new paths and monster packs. Dying costs players part of their field bag, though equipped gear stays with them. World PvP is opt-in: raising a flag earns extra XP and loot, and it also makes the player a target for anyone else who is flagged.
The three classes are still Warrior, Archer and Mage. Each one now gets a talent tree with three branches and seven tiers, which the site marks as a work in progress.
Classic and Echo
All heroes can play in two modes. Classic is the open-world route where players level up. Echo drops leveling and puts everyone on equal gear, and it hosts Dragon Dominion, Rifts and Arena.
Dragon Dominion is a 5v5 battleground built around fights for altars. Through the match, each player drafts Dragon Powers by choosing one card from three. The roadmap describes Rifts as session-based risk-to-earn dungeons in Echo mode.
Crafting and currencies
Players choose two of six professions. The gatherers are Miner, Herbalist and Hunter. Blacksmith, Artisan and Alchemist handle crafting.
The site says most equipment is crafted, and items made by players show the crafter’s name. The only way to buy gear is from other players.
Three currencies run the economy. Gold is pegged at 100 Gold to 1 USDC, is purchased onchain and never drops from monsters. Bronze comes from monsters and can’t leave the game. $WYRM is the ownership token. Per the site, game profits pay for buybacks and burns, and holders can stake $WYRM for perks and vote on community decisions.
The roadmap is split into six phases: Calamity Rifts, Dragon Dominion, Talents & Skills, the beta test, the $WYRM TGE before the main release, and then the main release itself. No dates appear on the page, which says each phase will ship when it’s ready.
Factory sale
The work is funded through Factory NFTs. The site puts the supply at 9,999 Factories, priced at 43 USDC each, with a cap of 243 per wallet. “Funded by the community. No VCs.” the page said. As of Oct. 29, the counter showed 4,223 Factories minted.
Owning a Factory gets a holder a home in the Factory district, an MMO starter kit for levels 1 to 10 and 1,375 $WYRM at TGE. That $WYRM amount includes the claim and the first three months of staking rewards. Factories can be traded and merged after the sell-out or the TGE, depending on which happens first.
Hitting community mint targets adds holder perks. At 6,000 minted, a spider mount unlocks. A Trophy Hall follows at 8,000, and home rental at 9,000. Selling out all 9,999 unlocks the Engineer profession, available only to holders. “Goals that aren’t reached won’t be included in the beta or MMO launch.” the site said.
A later post in the thread pushed a Halloween draw. Any Factory minted before Nov. 30 at 23:59 UTC enters a Main Draw for the Crimson Steed mount, Unholy Grasp and other cosmetics. All Factory and Dragon Ring holders also qualify for a separate Holders’ Draw with 100 Nightmare Steeds and six cosmetics up for grabs. The winners will be picked on Dec. 7.
Background
Calamity has been on Ronin since April 2025, where it has run an open beta of its 2D action MMORPG. The site’s FAQ lists it on Steam, the Epic Games Store, its own launcher for Windows and macOS, and Google Play for Android. The team says the game is free to play, with a monthly premium option planned, and that nothing in the game will be locked behind it.
Gold, Factories, cosmetics and titles will transfer to the MMO, Halloween prizes included. Heroes and items from earlier seasons and the beta will not carry over. The bottom of the roadmap page carries this line: “Everything on this page is in development and may change.”
