In Brief:

  • Gala Games has kicked off an invite-only alpha for Mirandus: Eternal Night, a persistent, hex-based 2D isometric exploration RPG set within the Mirandus universe.
  • Traversing a fog-of-war map costs Energy, which players burn to move, battle and collect loot; should a character’s HP reach zero, it dies and forfeits all non-NFT inventory.
  • The title plays inside a WebGL browser on desktop and is designed to give existing Mirandus NFTs extra utility rather than supplant the flagship MMORPG.

Gala Games is trialing Mirandus: Eternal Night — a persistent, hex-based 2D isometric exploration RPG — via invite-only alpha access at links.gala.com/mirandus-eternal-night.

Survival sits at the heart of the loop. Players enter what Gala refers to as the Echo Realm, a shadowy world shrouded in fog of war, and fight back against a cosmic void called The Absence.

How it plays

Getting around burns Energy. Players use it to cross hexes, set off events and take on wandering foes in turn-based auto-battles.

What’s at stake is permanent. When a character’s HP falls to zero, that character dies and drops every piece of non-NFT inventory. Securing loot and healing requires making it back to a lighted, player-owned Town.

Towns form the flip side of the design. Players are able to own them, set up shops and govern trade, drawing value from what other players do and molding the map itself. The economy is built on NFTs and player interaction, with gathering, crafting and trading all feeding into an open marketplace.

A browser build, not a client

Eternal Night runs as a WebGL browser experience. There’s no bulky download involved; it loads on a PC straight through the browser. It’s built for desktop and does not support mobile.

Access remains locked down. Getting in is invite-only via the Gala link, and the alpha has ushered players into the Echo Realm as “Echoes” who juggle Energy and HP over the course of each run.

Tied to the existing Mirandus

Gala positions Eternal Night as an early, exclusive slice of the Mirandus universe rather than something meant to replace the blockchain MMORPG. Its pitch centers on added utility for existing Mirandus NFTs plus a standalone survival challenge where players can build wealth as the broader Mirandus ecosystem grows.

The format marks a departure. The Mirandus franchise made its reputation on open-world exploration, and Eternal Night swaps that out for a structured hex grid and auto-battler combat.

Events and new systems

Gala has kept adding content on top of the alpha. A Cosmic Hunt event offered a 1,000 GUSDC prize, and the build has since pushed the test toward a broader public format.

A more recent update introduced a Party System. Players can enlist and manage as many as 10 unique warriors per account and send a party of up to five characters out on expeditions.

Further additions are signposted. Gala names a Store, a large Boss Event and richer Mirandus NFT integration among its plans, though no firm dates are attached.

For the moment, the game keeps the price of failure stark. Fall in the fog, and your loot stays behind.
