What Season 5 changes
Equipment lands in Season 5 together with Glyphs, the resource required to upgrade items. Workers each carry a health bar from now on, and their condition directly influences how much Glyph and Trophy production they deliver. Players pick up workers via campaign levels and quests, player level increases and Worker Shards.
The stats attached to items are Health Regen, Movement Speed, Added Damage, Critical Damage and Damage Reduction. According to Pixion, every item unlocks a different playstyle.
The season also brings in two Vanguard units. Guard is a durable melee fighter whose Guard Stance punishes mistimed attacks. Blob, meanwhile, can’t be dropped with a single hit and breaks apart into smaller blobs once defeated, which pushes players to think about timing and area damage.
How guild seasons pay out
Guilds debuted in Season 4 and are limited to 50 players apiece. Members accumulate Guild Valor by taking part in events, then trade it for GG Chests that yield Guild Glory. Glory feeds into both an individual leaderboard placement and the guild’s overall score, and because the two boards have their own separate reward sets, smaller guilds still have a shot at placing.
During Season 4’s guild window, as much as 70% of webshop revenue — Power Chests excluded — was funneled into the $POWER prize pool. That pool grew in step with player spending and ultimately landed at 1.66 million POWER. Guild leaders keep a share of whatever their members bring in.
That guild window lasted 17 days, running Dec. 8 through Dec. 24 within a Season 4 that wrapped Jan. 5. Ahead of it, Pixion also operated a Guild Surge Program that paid accepted applicants as much as $25,000 and asked for a minimum of 10 members plus previous guild management experience in web2 or web3 titles.
Token and staking
The $POWER token generation event took place Dec. 5, launching on Binance Alpha with an airdrop that could be claimed using Alpha Points. Of a 1 billion total supply, 210 million was circulating at launch. Allocation breaks down as 37.2% community, 28% ecosystem, 16.15% investors, 9.23% team, 5% liquidity and 4.42% advisers.
Staking Season 3 began July 23 at 2 p.m. UTC, carrying 2,200,200 POWER in rewards. The staking mechanism operates through the Fableborne Kingdoms NFT collection, which reserves 4% of total supply for rewards. A single daily points snapshot is taken at 1 p.m. UTC, and unstaking and restaking between those snapshots incurs no penalty.
The pool for Season 2 stood at 2.2 million POWER. After staking widened to Ethereum and Ronin and loyalty bonuses came into play, it attracted more than twice the staked POWER and participant numbers of Season 1.
Background
The London-based game entered global open beta Dec. 2, following earlier seasons that drew north of 380,000 players, hit a peak of 108,000 daily active users and generated $21.5 million in NFT presale revenue. Pixion has since said beta players number more than 400,000. Weekly retention landed somewhere between 25% and 51%, spread across upwards of 2.4 million sessions with an average length of 32 minutes.
Pixion Games founder and CEO Kam Punia described the beta as the studio’s “most significant step forward.” Developers previously at Konami, Garena, Gala Games, Square Enix, Sony, Wargaming, Pixonic, Ubisoft and NCSOFT founded the studio back in 2017.
In the run-up to the token launch Pixion raised $12.4 million, including a $3 million check from BITKRAFT Ventures in February. Delphi Digital, Spartan VC, Mechanism Capital and L1D count among its earlier backers.
POWER hit a high of $2.40 on March 3 to cap an 872.5% run over 30 days, before shedding 90.25% of its value once a temporary halt on the Ronin Bridge created a divergence between DEX and CEX pricing. Come April it was changing hands around $0.078, a market cap of roughly $16 million, with 72.8% of supply still locked.
