Leading metaverse platform, The Sandbox, has partnered with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to develop a metaverse focused on education.
The universities have purchased virtual land and will join The Sandbox’s newest project, Mega City 3, to offer students an immersive blockchain gaming experience while promoting research and development in the field.
The Sandbox’s Co-Founder & COO, Sebastien Borget, expressed excitement about the partnership, saying the following: “We’re a platform that provides a lot of creative possibilities. Connecting with some of those major institutions that are educating about design or technology … and recognize The Sandbox as the tool for that purpose is, in our opinion, significant and proves the forward-thinking aspect of Hong Kong versus other regions of the world.”
The collaboration between The Sandbox and the universities will drive innovation in the metaverse industry. In addition, the universities will work with The Sandbox to explore new opportunities for growth and development in the field. This initiative is a significant step toward the growth and development of the metaverse.
As The Sandbox prepares to launch Mega City 3 and forge new partnerships, the platform’s vision of a decentralized virtual world becomes a reality. This vision allows anyone to join any experience and publish content without The Sandbox’s intervention, empowering students or players to create and share their metaverse experiences.
