Bandai Namco has put a date on the calendar via X, and it isn’t vague: August 26, 2026. That’s the day a fresh Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 demo goes live at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany.
Anyone inside that hall gets hands-on time with the newest Dragon Ball game. Everyone else? Read on.
This wasn’t the original plan, or at least not all of it. A Xenoverse 3 demo had already been locked in for Tokyo Game Show in September. Gamescom is the extra stop.
A demo at Gamescom isn’t news. This one kind of is.
Playable builds turn up in Cologne every single year from publishers of all sizes. Nothing unusual there.
The reason this one is worth flagging comes down to timing: an appearance in late August hints that more details are landing before the month closes out. Xenoverse 3 still doesn’t have a firm release date. A 2027 window is the extent of what’s been shared.
Now the part that stings if you’re playing from the sofa: nothing has been said about a home console demo. Not a word.
Bandai Namco’s Road Tour is running from July 10 through December 20, 2026, and as things stand, that tour is the realistic way to get your hands on this game. Turn up at a stop, queue, play.
The Road Tour is doing a lot of heavy lifting
Locations and dates stretching to the end of the year are listed on the official Road Tour website. If Cologne is off the table for you, that’s the alternative.
After the tour finishes in December, a demo announcement could still arrive ahead of the 2027 launch. Could. Nobody has promised it.
Hype around Xenoverse 3 has been intense, and the franchise’s guaranteed audience is only part of the reason. This installment takes place further into the future than the series has gone before, a genuinely different proposition compared with rehashing arcs fans could recite in their sleep.
Each roster reveal seems to push that excitement up another level.
Toriyama’s shadow is still long
Xenoverse 3 isn’t carrying the franchise by itself. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is expected to premiere this fall.
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, adapted from the manga arc, has also received an official announcement.
The manga side is stirring as well. A brief update from artist Toyotaro has fans hopeful that the Dragon Ball Super manga comes back sooner rather than later.
A small update, an enormous reaction. Such is this fandom.
Akira Toriyama’s legacy is hardly gathering dust behind glass. Across the anime projects, the manga rumours and a fighting game touring the globe before release, the machine hasn’t slowed down.
What August 26 actually gets you
One demo. In Germany. On a single day, at a single event.
That’s the entire offer, and depending on your postcode it’s either grounds for booking travel or grounds for bookmarking the Road Tour schedule and finding a stop nearer home.
Here’s what to keep an eye on: late August has a habit of converting demo announcements into release-window announcements. Bandai Namco will have a stage, a playable build and a game still missing a date.
