Leaked GTA 5 Files Reveal a Far Nastier Ending for Trevor Philips

Trevor Philips was, by one account, meant to freeze solid and shatter.

That claim has emerged from the latest wave of digging through leaked Rockstar material, and it drags you back to a choice you likely made more than ten years ago. Option A. Franklin goes after Trevor. The oil tanker. That one.

Going by leaked dialogue now making the rounds, the tanker was never the original idea.

What the leaked dialogue reportedly shows

HeySlickThatsMe passed a leak to X user TJGM containing never-heard dialogue attached to the ending in which Franklin goes for Trevor rather than Michael. Rather than Trevor colliding with an oil tanker, the leaked lines point to Rockstar having first weighed sending him into a truck loaded with liquid nitrogen.

He’d freeze. Then come apart in pieces.

Brutally on-brand, given who Trevor is. And the caveat matters here: this is unverified leaked development material, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed or said anything about it.

Brucie was apparently in the mix too

Trevor’s alternate send-off isn’t the only find. TJGM additionally shared cut dialogue featuring Brucie from GTA 4, a character who was seemingly lined up to turn up in GTA 5’s single-player campaign and run missions with Franklin.

A Brucie and Franklin mission thread. Parked in a file somewhere, never finished.

Where all this material came from

The dialogue stems from the 192 GB haul of scrapped GTA 5 source code files — the very batch behind reports that GTA 6 could receive Liberty City DLC. That archive has been passed around publicly, and data miners keep surfacing finds from the years-old development material.

One point to hold onto before treating any of it as news: the bulk of the material traces back to Rockstar’s 2022 security breach rather than being newly made. These are old ideas, not fresh ones.

What else is reportedly buried in the archive

Across the full archive there is said to be cut GTA 5 content, early dialogue, vehicles, mission information, Agent Trevor, DLC assets and potentially early GTA 6 files. Reports also describe traces of a Liberty City expansion planned for GTA 5, plus a handful of low-quality GTA 6 map assets that look like the regions seen in the game's trailers.

That sentence leans hard on the word reportedly. Rockstar has confirmed none of it.

What these finds really highlight is the sheer volume of ideas, characters and storylines Rockstar worked through before GTA 5 took its final shape. Somewhere inside a 2013 build, Trevor Philips struck a nitrogen truck and broke apart on the asphalt, and it never reached your screen.
