For buyers who have been holding blind since the drop, that finally attaches both a name and a bloodline to the assets. Chimpanions are companion collectibles designed to be discovered, collected, traded and equipped to a Chimp. More will be introduced over time, the project has said, beginning with Crane Season.
The eggs came first
August 2026 brought the collection’s opening: 222 items with a 5% creator fee attached. Art has been absent until now, replaced by a placeholder — listings read “Sealed Chimpanion Egg” and carry two traits, Season and Status.
Distribution came in two stages. Per the project’s news feed, an egg went to 100 Chimps, while another 72 minted out inside the first minute. A teaser post earlier that month read “222 Chimpanions Are Coming” and promised details the next day.
None of the 222 had been tied to a named character before Koguma, and nothing had confirmed that six distinct characters sit behind the eggs.
What the pouch does
The mechanism predates the collectibles. On Aug. 19, Chimpers announced the Adventure Pouch, giving every Chimp its own on-chain wallet — an ERC-6551-style token-bound account that lets the NFT itself hold assets rather than the wallet holding both.
In practice, a Chimpanion equipped to a Chimp travels with it on sale. Alongside companions, the pouch can carry tokens, seasonal items and rewards, according to Chimpers.
Where the collection stands
Trading in Chimpanions is thin. The floor stands at 0.349 ETH, around $878, with the top offer near $352.50; volume over 24 hours comes to roughly $1,047, against about $14,000 all time. Nine items are listed, 4.1% of the supply, and 174 unique owners hold 78.4% of the collection. Asks on those few listed eggs stretch from the floor up past $190,000.
Depth is greater in the main Chimpers collection, whose floor is 0.489 ETH, roughly $1,243.98 and down about 4.1% on the day. The top offer is around $1,073, with some $5,066 traded over 24 hours and $56 million in lifetime volume. Of the 5,555 items, 527 are listed, 13.4% of supply, spread across 1,011 owners.
Background
Chimpers is a set of 5,555 generative pixel-art characters on Ethereum, released May 18, 2022. Pixel artist Timpers began the project in July 2021 and developed it around art, lore and music, with the characters doubling as a digital identity across what the project calls the Chimpverse.
All of that came after the Genesis line Koguma is said to descend from: 100 hand-drawn 1/1 Chimps from 2021, brought to life, as the project tells it, by burning the diamond fleece. Their floor is 5.80 ETH.
