In Brief:

  • On Oct. 14, the last day players could log in to claim it, Off The Grid (official site) revealed the full six-piece Veteran’s Crest set.
  • Gunzilla Games linked the set to the game’s two-year anniversary. Players who collected every piece earned a confetti effect.
  • The next day, the official GUNZ account reported that Veteran’s Crest items were already being traded on OpenSea.

On Oct. 14, the final day for players to log in and claim it, Off The Grid showed off the complete Veteran’s Crest set.

“THE FULL SET” the game’s official account wrote. “Six days, six pieces, and a trail of confetti for everyone who never missed one. This is what two years looks like.”

The post closed with a short reminder: “Last day to log in.”

Secondary trading starts

Players who claimed the items didn’t hold them for long. On Oct. 15, the official GUNZ account quoted the anniversary post and wrote, “Veteran’s Crest is already changing hands on @OpenSea.”

Neither account shared sales volume or floor prices, and neither said how many players completed the set.

How the drop worked

One piece was released each day for six days. Players who logged in on all six days received the complete set and the confetti trail the studio mentioned. Players who missed a day did not.

Gunzilla hasn’t released claim numbers, and it hasn’t said whether a similar event will follow.

Live-service shooters often use login streaks to keep players coming back. On GUNZ, though, the reward isn’t locked to the account. Players can list it on the open market as soon as they claim it, and the GUNZ post shows that some already have.

Two years in early access

The anniversary comes two years after Off The Grid entered early access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on Oct. 8, 2024. The game is developed and published by Germany-based Gunzilla Games.

The game’s X profile still describes it as early access on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Off The Grid is a free-to-play battle royale set on Teardrop Island. Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp directs the story, and author Richard K. Morgan is one of the project’s writers.

The GUNZ layer

Players can turn weapon skins, outfits and other Off The Grid items into tradable assets on GUNZ, the chain Gunzilla built for the game. The studio has said this layer is optional, so players can skip the marketplace and just play the shooter.

Items normally come from HEX loot boxes found during matches. Players must survive and extract with a HEX before they can convert its contents. The Veteran’s Crest pieces didn’t require that. Players only had to keep their streak going for six days.

On Oct. 14, the studio’s message to anyone still missing a piece matched the last line of its post: “Last day to log in.”
