In Brief:
- Major Update Launched: Fishing Frenzy introduced Chapter 3 on May 14, featuring significant enhancements including the establishment of guilds, an intricate fish quality and refinement system, formidable boss fish challenges, and a revamped guild store.
- Currency Conversion: The game transitioned its primary currency from RON to USDC for all transactions, including diving and store purchases, with provisions for credit card use and gas sponsorship, albeit temporarily halted.
- Enhanced Player Onboarding: A redefined tutorial now provides new players with five initial chests, and eliminates the need for Privy pop-up transaction signings, streamlining the entry process.
Introduction of Guilds
With the latest update, Fishing Frenzy now allows players to form, join, or leave guilds, fostering a more communal gaming experience. The introduction of a Guild Store offers exclusive access to purchase items, and an upcoming guild war feature promises Gem rewards, increasing the competitive aspect of the game.
Improvement in Fish Quality and Introduction of Boss Fish
The update introduces a new system where all fish are assigned a quality level that influences the experience points (XP) players earn and their probability of encountering boss fish. Players can use fossils to enhance their fish refinement levels, which in turn, enables them to catch fish of higher qualities. Additionally, boss fish, which do not yield XP, have been incorporated. These are rare encounters that, when successfully managed, improve the player’s leaderboard ranking.
Currency Transition to USDC
Fishing Frenzy has transitioned from using RON to USDC as the default currency. This change applies to all facets of the game’s economy, from diving to purchasing from the store. Although the existing Premium Diving tickets were refunded in RON, the conversion has kept all odds and ratios intact. Additionally, to facilitate smoother transactions, the game briefly introduced support for credit card purchases and gas sponsorship for fiat on-ramp users, which is currently suspended due to external partner issues.
Streamlined Onboarding and Other Updates
To make starting out in the game less daunting for new players, the onboarding process was overhauled. Removing the need for Privy pop-up signing simplifies the initial game interaction. New players now receive five chests after completing the tutorial, easing their integration into the game. Moreover, various game components such as the Pearl wheel pricing and cooking recipes were adjusted for balance and diversity. Lastly, the game recalculated in-game Karma scores to reflect recent activity, and rewards were distributed for various engagement campaigns.
