Your cat can now scratch up a cardboard box that carries an official Konami license.
That box leads a Metal Gear cat toy range launching at CatCon 2026, created alongside a famous feline known as ‘one-eared Uno.’ Each scratch box takes its design from the cardboard containers Big Boss and Old Snake crouch beneath to sneak past guards — so your cat gets to do deliberately what it was going to do regardless.
Yes, there’s a cat convention
In case this is news to you: CatCon is an annual gathering that draws cat people from around the world to Pasadena, California, complete with themed exhibits, workshops, adoption drives and meet-and-greets featuring celebrity cats.
Uno belongs to that celebrity roster. To mark the toy line’s arrival, she and her owner, Kat Curtis, will host a meet-and-greet at the Konami booth this year.
How Uno got here
Kat came across her as a stray, left behind near a dumpster. Today, with a single ear and an underbite, the pair have amassed over five million social media followers between them.
Fans can say hello at CatCon on October 12 at 2 PM PST.
What’s actually in the collection
The scratch boxes are joined by plush pet toys and cat collars drawing on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
The Pasadena Convention Center hosts CatCon from October 10 through 11, and the Snake-approved goods can only be picked up on those two days — either on the show floor or via the OKS Gear Shop online.
There’s a giveaway attached
A shot at meeting Uno and grabbing the exclusive Metal Gear items goes to fans who stop by the Konami booth and complete any one of three tasks: proving they own Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, wishlisting the collection, or purchasing the Metal Gear merchandise on-site.
The reason this exists
All of it is a limited-run promotion built around the debut of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, a bundle of the classic stealth-action titles landing August 17, 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S and Steam.
Promoting a stealth franchise at a cat convention is undeniably strange. Then again, this is a series featuring a gas-masked psychic and a sniper who runs on photosynthesis — an underbitten, one-eared cat pitching cardboard boxes hardly ranks as the weirdest thing ever attached to the Metal Gear name.
And let’s be honest, the box was always the best part.
