In Brief:
- Following a performance update to Off The Grid (official site), GUNZ reported that weekly transactions on its Avalanche L1 jumped 14.3% — from 3.00 million to 3.43 million.
- GUNZ’s own network report puts the count at 11.77 million extra transactions settled since the patch went out.
- Because of the optimization work, Gunzilla Games was able to drop the shooter’s minimum PC specs, opening it up to more machines in the run-up to a 1.0 release targeted for October.
Weekly transactions across the GUNZ network rose 14.3% in the wake of Off The Grid’s performance update, moving from 3.00 million to 3.43 million per week, the team said.
In a report published Friday on its official account, GUNZ put the total settled since the patch shipped at 11.77 million transactions.

What shipped
The update landed on July 10 as build CL521264. According to the studio, weaker PCs gained as much as 100 additional frames per second in tested scenarios, while CEO Vlad Korolev said measured gains on that hardware reached up to three times the previous frame rate.
“Performance was the most important goal for this update, and the results are far beyond a typical optimization pass,” said Vlad Korolev, CEO at Gunzilla Game Studio.
On the back of those results, the developer officially reduced the game’s minimum system requirements. Machines that previously couldn’t sustain a competitive frame rate now fall within the supported spec.
Optimization wasn’t the whole story. Gunzilla also reworked the core combat loop — overhauling the weapon system for handling, gun feel, feedback and combat variety — and rebalanced the game’s Cyberlimbs. Rounding out the build were a redesigned “Stay as Squad” endgame flow, a fresh onboarding tutorial, UI tweaks, world refinements and crash fixes on every supported platform.
Two smaller builds came afterwards: CL525776 on July 16 and CL530402 on July 24.
The on-chain read
The weekly network report GUNZ publishes showed movement in the weeks bracketing the patch. During the week of July 8, five days cleared 500,000 transactions and the network peaked at 573,920 on July 13, pushing lifetime mainnet transactions beyond 132.6 million. A week earlier, ending July 1, the peak was 542,140 and the lifetime tally stood above 128.8 million.
Marketplace numbers moved the same way. Between July 3 and July 10, GUNZ logged 389 OpenSea sales, compared with 319 in the week ending July 3, when the average sale price came to 1,360 GUN. With over 36 million items circulating, GUNZ described the floor price as “context, not a signal.”
Every one of these figures originates with GUNZ. Activity on the chain can be inspected publicly through its Routescan-hosted explorer, though the before-and-after framing, the 14.3% delta and the 11.77 million settled figure are the team’s own accounting.
Usage up, token flat
None of that throughput growth has reached the token. GUN launched on March 31, 2025, hit roughly $0.115 on day one, and has since spent 2026 in a $0.02 to $0.03 range, sitting near $0.027 in February.
The disconnect between activity and price has trailed the project since mainnet went live, when skeptics asked whether the chain was handling genuine load or simply recycling in-game telemetry. Match outcomes, item transfers and marketplace settlement all get written to the chain by Off The Grid, so a patch that keeps more players in more matches will mechanically generate more transactions. A client that runs faster on weaker hardware means more concurrent sessions — and more sessions mean more writes.
Background
Off The Grid is a free-to-play cyberpunk battle royale built by Gunzilla Games, the studio co-founded by Neill Blomkamp. It is currently in early access on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The move onto GUNZ mainnet has come in stages. Gunzilla migrated 21,000 early adopters first, then extended migration to EU-based PC players once GUN cleared approval as a utility token under the EU’s MiCAR rules in late August 2025. For now the studio operates a custodial wallet under the license of European CASP Kauri Finance while seeking its own VASP license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
In May, after six years in development, Gunzilla said Off The Grid would leave early access in October 2026 — the game’s two-year anniversary — with monthly updates arriving from June through launch. July’s performance pass was the first of those.
“Turns out the chain took it personally,” GUNZ said.
