In Brief:
- Meta Racing (official site), a card-strategy racing game built on Solana, announced its shutdown on Oct. 28.
- Players can unlock pilots and other NFTs, claim staking rewards and transfer assets to their own wallets until Nov. 15.
- The team said assets left behind after that date “will no longer be accessible.”
Solana racing game Meta Racing is closing down. Anyone who still holds assets in the game has until Nov. 15 to withdraw them.
The team posted the news on X on Oct. 28. The post said “Meta Racing is shutting down 🏁” and came with a letter attached as an image, which began: “Friends, today we’re sharing news we really didn’t want to post: Meta Racing is shutting down.”

The team didn’t explain why the game is closing.
What players need to do before Nov. 15
A warning box in the letter carried the heading “Important: withdraw your assets by November 15.” Below it were three instructions: “unlock your pilots and other NFTs;” “claim your staking rewards;” and “transfer all your assets to your own wallet.”
The team added: “After November 15, any assets that haven’t been withdrawn will no longer be accessible.”
Several questions went unanswered. The letter said nothing about the game’s servers, its in-game currency or its tournament schedule in the run-up to the deadline, and it didn’t say whether anything would remain online once Nov. 15 passes.
The team’s farewell
No individual put their name to the letter. It was signed “The Meta Racing Team.”
“Our team started with a simple dream: to build a blockchain game where strategy, calculation and progression matter more than FOMO and speculation,” the team wrote.
The letter gave players the credit for what followed. “You, our players, turned that dream into a real story. Your garages, pilots, cards, wins and losses are the true Meta Racing,” it read. “Together we built strategies, leveled up cars and pilots, raced and laughed on streams, debated the game and made it better.”
According to the team, it was walking away “not with sadness, but with gratitude. For every race, every car you built, every stream and every piece of feedback.”
A record tournament just weeks earlier
The announcement comes shortly after a busy period for the game. On Sept. 3, Meta Racing ran a Game Night tournament with a $350 prize pool shared by 10 winners. The game reported 65 entrants, the most the event had ever drawn, and said $500 went out to players that week.
Race rewards were paid in IGT, the game’s in-game currency.
How races played out
Each Meta Racing race put five players on a randomized track. A planning phase came first, where players studied the track conditions, and then they played ability cards one round at a time. The bio on the game’s X account says: “You don’t farm here, you race.”
The game used three types of NFTs: cars, pilots and ability cards. New players were told in the bio to “Get your car, hire a pilot, upgrade your garage.”
On the official site, the setting was the year 2174, a world where “five mega-corporations control the world” and racing is “the last symbol of freedom.”
The roadmap that won’t be finished
For Q4 2025, the site’s roadmap listed an ability card NFT pack mint, Zealy quests and KOL onboarding, with NFT cars and a whitepaper reveal to follow. Q1 2026 was meant to bring the game release, on-chain tournaments and a TGE. Content updates and a battle pass with themed seasons were penciled in for Q2 2026.
The @MetaRacing_io account has been on X since April 2023 and has roughly 25,600 followers.
The letter ended by hinting at something further down the line, without giving any details: “The dust on the track will settle, and something new will come into view. Until then, the Meta Racing team says thank you, and see you down the road!”
