Winter Update Catalyzes Growth in MapleStory Universe

MapleStory Universe, a blockchain-based game, has witnessed remarkable growth and increased player engagement following its recent winter update. This major content addition ran from mid-December 2025 through February 2026, and was aimed at both attracting new players and re-engaging those who had drifted away.

Player Growth and Engagement

The update was highly effective in boosting the game’s user base, drawing in more than 96,000 new players and reactivating over 34,000 past players. This influx has elevated the total registered accounts past the two million mark. Additionally, the daily engagement has seen a significant rise, with the fraction of players spending over nine hours a day increasing from 35% to 43%. These figures reflect more than just log-in times, indicating a genuine boost in player involvement.

Economic Impact

The winter update has also had a powerful economic impact. Between November 2025 and February 2026, the game experienced a 171% increase in the number of in-game transactions. The NESO currency, in particular, enjoyed a substantial 400% spike in trading volume. Although this was accompanied by a 44% drop in the value of the NXPC token, the overall trading value adjusted to an increase of about 180% during the period.

From February 5, 2026, onwards, token inflows into MapleStory Universe turned positive, signifying a potential stabilization and growth of the game’s economy. Nexpace, the company behind MapleStory Universe, plans to leverage this momentum by introducing new features such as allowing players to mint their characters’ nicknames as NFTs, thereby adding a personalized economic layer within the game environment.

A Look Forward

“The winter update delivered measurable increases in both user participation and ecosystem activity,” stated Sunyoung Hwang, CEO of Nexpace. “Observing this level of engagement following a single content update reinforces our view that demand for sustainable, utility-driven on-chain gaming experiences continues to grow.”

Nexpace remains dedicated to continuously improving MapleStory Universe, with more updates aimed at maintaining and broadening the game’s community and economic framework. As the platform continues to evolve, these enhancements are expected to keep the existing player base engaged while attracting new participants to the digital ecosystem.
