McDonald’s Singapore has recently launched a groundbreaking digital venture, “My Happy Place,” a metaverse platform designed to offer a unique interactive experience to its customers. This innovative space provides a variety of games and activities, enhanced features for Grimace NFT holders, and opportunities to win real-world rewards.
A Digital Leap in Customer Engagement
“My Happy Place” marks a significant expansion of McDonald’s digital footprint in partnership with Bandwagon Labs, utilizing the cutting-edge BW.LAND technology. This new virtual environment is seamlessly integrated into the McDonald’s Singapore app, enabling users to engage in a fully immersive 3D digital world from the comfort of their homes.
The metaverse experience includes the Build-A-Burger game, where participants can create their ideal burger, and a design studio for envisioning future McDonald’s restaurant layouts. Additionally, users can participate in the Wheel of Deals, a daily contest offering tangible food deals and prizes.
Exclusive Benefits for NFT Owners
In a unique approach to integrating digital collectibles with customer experiences, McDonald’s has introduced special perks for holders of the Grimace NFTs, released in partnership with Bandwagon Labs. These 2,000 NFTs, distributed free via the McDonald’s app, are crafted on the Polygon blockchain and are soulbound, meaning they cannot be transferred between owners.
Owners of Grimace NFTs enjoy exclusive access to in-game features such as a secret island and special in-game items. They can also showcase Grimace-themed artwork in the virtual Restaurant of the Future, enhancing their interaction within the metaverse.
Drina Chee, Senior Director of Marketing & Digital Customer Experience at McDonald’s Singapore, expressed enthusiasm about the launch. She highlighted how “My Happy Place” allows customers to engage with the brand in unprecedented ways, from dressing up avatars in McDonald’s gear to winning ‘phygital’ rewards—a blend of physical and digital perks.
