Here's what you need to know

“Lunacians, welcome last season of Classic’s second Competitive Circuit,” read the Axie Infinity post that announced the season.

Where the 36,000 goes

Between them, the Guild and Arena leaderboards take up 19,000 bAXS. Of that, 14,500 bAXS is split among the top 30 guilds on the Guild Leaderboard, while the Arena Leaderboard distributes 4,500 bAXS across the top 100 ranked players.

Guild Milestone payouts are cumulative: any guild that hits the last milestone also banks the rewards from every milestone beneath it. Once the season wraps, Guild Points are reset.

The Battle Pass returns free of charge this season, handing competitors gold, artifact copies and as much as 4,000 Dusts.

Two invitational seats left

The last two qualification spots for the Champions Invitational are decided in Season 16. That event fields eight players and carries a 5,000 bAXS prize pool.

Half the seats are reserved for whoever finishes No. 1 on the Arena Leaderboard in each season from S13 through S16; the remaining four belong to the winners of each Season Championship. Should a single player lock in a seat via both paths, it rolls down to the next highest-ranked player from that Season Championship who is not already qualified.

The provision has come into play twice already. Chan took the Season 15 Championship while holding a seat as a former Champion, and JL topped the S15 Arena Leaderboard despite being in the field. That opened the door for Eshaz, runner-up at the Season 15 Championship.

The last one

Once the mini tournaments wrap on Sept. 10, regular competitive seasons for Classic end at Sky Mavis, along with active feature development.

According to the studio, it would like the community to assume responsibility for direction, tournament organization and future development. How governance, tooling and reward structures will operate after that handoff has not been finalized.

With no official seasons in place, the burden of prize funding, event hosting and balance feedback shifts to players, guild leaders and third-party organizers.

Elsewhere in the franchise, Sky Mavis is directing its resources at other titles. Origins has reached Season 18 and adopted an Elite 4 tournament format. Terrariums, the land gameplay system, advanced to version 1.1, which allows land owners to boost their Atia's Flame metrics and earn bAXS via item placements and Axie setups. Atia's Legacy, an action MMO built around real-time PvP and boss battles, is about to begin its fourth playtest.

How the circuit was built

Competitive Circuit 2 was designed as a four-season stretch spanning S13 to S16, and from Season 14 onward every circuit reward was denominated in bAXS.

Season 15 featured a 36,000 bAXS pool as well — the identical amount Sky Mavis has staked on the finale.

Sept. 10 also marks the day Classic quests disappear from the daily Bounty Board, coinciding with the end of the mini tournaments.
