ChainVision Games’ free-to-play PvP action game Katana Inu KATA $0.00004861 ▲ +26.5% (official site) launches in Early Access today, October 22, 2026. The studio also said it has signed an agreement to release the anime-inspired game on PlayStation 5 when it fully launches. There’s no date yet for the PS5 version.

ChainVision describes Early Access as the last big milestone before the full launch, but it hasn’t dated that launch either. The team’s statement reads: “The full release will follow when the timing is right and we have the right strategic partner on board to take Katana Inu to the next level.” Until it reaches gold status, the studio says it will take things one step at a time so that everything runs smoothly.

Launch day 1v1s and rewards

Katana Inu is starting Early Access with its first community session. The session covers live gameplay, the team’s vision for the game and a preview of upcoming plans.

The first 1v1 battles begin at around 5 PM CET, and 50 USD to 100 USD in rewards is on offer. Further competitive sessions are planned for the next few days. Upcoming 1v1 and 3v3 sessions take sign-ups at register.katanainu.com, where players can earn up to 100 USD in gameplay rewards. Sign-ups were only open for 18 hours after the announcement.

What the game plays like

Katana Inu is a third-person PvP action game set in an anime-inspired world. Combat revolves around swordplay and quick movement. Players get grappling hooks and double jumps, and each character and weapon class has its own abilities.

The game has four main modes:

  • 1v1 duels
  • 3v3 team battles
  • Free-for-all matches
  • Battle royale

Newcomers can learn the basics in a tutorial mode. According to the Steam listing, the game is not pay-to-win.

Katana Inu ships in two versions. On Steam, players get the Web2 version, which works fully without a wallet and has no NFT or blockchain requirements. The Katana Inu Launcher runs the Web3 version, where players can use NFTs and play-to-earn features linked to the KATA token. NFT skins are purely cosmetic and never required. Characters may vary slightly between the two versions.

PC players need Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i5 4th generation or AMD FX 6300 processor, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. Console and mobile versions are listed as the next platforms, and PlayStation 5 is now locked in for the full launch.

Five years of development

Earlier this month, Katana Inu set the October 22 Early Access date. The team said then that the game was “gearing up for its Full Launch and is preparing to bring publishing and strategic partners on board for a global release.” It hasn’t named any partners yet. ChainVision Games is both developer and publisher, and its Steam listing also gives October 22 as the Early Access start, while the full release date still reads “Coming soon.”

The game has been in development for five years and has gone through several public tests. On June 30, 2025, the team opened a beta to every PC player, with no registration, payment or token needed. That beta launched with five characters, one map and rotating modes. Players could join as guests or connect a wallet through MetaMask or WalletConnect, which they only needed for the marketplace and NFT minting. The battle royale mode got a public test on January 20, 2026, and a Steam demo was available from April 14 to May 10, 2026.

The KATA token

The KATA token launched through an IDO in December 2021, and the team has been working on the game ever since. KATA is the game’s utility token and runs on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base. Inside the launcher, it pays for in-game transactions like minting and upgrading items. Holders get tier rewards, season perks, level-ups and stat tracking, and players earn KATA based on how long they play and how well. Maximum supply is 50 billion tokens.
