AFK Heroes (official site), a free-to-play idle RPG built on Solana, has launched The Horde Trial, a new game mode that runs from October 25, 2026 to November 15. Prize pools across the event total more than 2,000,000 AFKHERO, split between two modes, each with its own leaderboard. Once the event wraps, the top 3 players on each leaderboard divide that board’s pool.

To take part, head to the Horde Trial section of the official AFK Heroes website. Each mode gives every player one free run per day, so it costs nothing to compete on both leaderboards.

The Long Night

The Long Night is an endless survival challenge where the goal is to hold out against the horde for as long as possible. All classes start at equal strength, no matter how far a player has advanced in the main game.

Because nobody has a head start, gear plays no part. Results come down to skill and decision making, and newcomers face the same conditions as long-time players.

The Trial Ladder

The Trial Ladder flips that approach. Players take their own hero and gear through 23 Trials, each capped off by a fight against a Warden. Your final position depends on how far your build can carry you.

Here, the hours already spent in AFK Heroes pay off. A stronger hero and better equipment give players an advantage, so the ladder measures how well each character has been built.

Daily quest and rewards

A new daily quest arrives alongside The Horde Trial. Survive for at least 2 minutes in your free Long Night run and 250,000 gold is yours to claim. Each new free run unlocks a fresh quest.

After the event ends on November 15, AFKHERO rewards go directly into winners’ in-game balances. Winners will also receive a notification with their final rank on either The Long Night or the Trial Ladder.

A busy October for AFK Heroes

The Horde Trial is the latest in a string of updates this month. Mining arrived earlier in October: a single switch pulls a hero out of combat and sends them to the mine, which is split into three zones of 91 hexes each. Then, on October 15, the game dropped turn-based PvP in favor of real-time 1v1 duels in which you control your hero directly.

Season 4 started on October 16 with 100 million AFKHERO in total rewards, the largest reward season AFK Heroes has run. That total was divided into a 60 million AFKHERO reward pool, 20 million for staking and 20 million for prizes.

AFK Heroes also landed on the Solana dApp Store this month. Owners of the Seeker phone can claim a one-time welcome pack containing a Mythic gear set, 50 Grand Jug potions, three-hour XP and drop boosts and a Seeker name tag.

About the game

AFK Heroes uses a voxel art style and plays in the browser, so there’s nothing to download. Players connect a Solana wallet such as Phantom or Solflare, pick a knight, mage or rogue, and send their hero off to fight. Newcomers who don’t have a wallet can try a demo mode.

Fights play out automatically, which means heroes keep battling monsters, picking up loot and earning AFKHERO while players are away. Heroes gain levels and gear across nine zones, starting with Frozen Spire at level 40 and running up to Singularity Vault at level 90 and above. Boss Keys let players summon bosses such as The Idle Warden.

Since its June 2026 launch, AFK Heroes has added guilds, crafting, tournaments, PvP and zone bosses. Guild members can earn up to 25% extra AFKHERO, along with 100% more XP and gold. Items can be traded on a player marketplace, and AFKHERO earned in the game can be withdrawn to a personal wallet. Starter packs with gear, gold and potions are available, but they’re optional.

The AFKHERO token

AFKHERO has a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens. When The Horde Trial was announced, it was trading at about 0.000201 USD. The team valued the Season 4 rewards at about 18,100 USD at launch. In September, the game’s staking vault reached its cap, with 250 million AFKHERO (25% of the total supply) locked. According to the team’s 90-day recap, players had earned 518.7 million AFKHERO, worth about 74,300 USD at the time.
