In Brief:
- MattleFun announced that Mattle Run v4.2.0 has gone live on all platforms, bringing Halloween updates and UI improvements.
- Lighting in Blackout Mode works differently after the patch: scarecrows now support lighting, chests and weapons emit light, and mobs’ eyes glow in the dark.
- The Pumpkin Lantern is a new item that increases a player’s light radius by 40%.
Version 4.2.0 of Mattle Run is out on every platform MattleFun supports. Blackout Mode gets most of the attention in this update, and nearly all of the changes are about light.
The team announced the release on X: “v4.2.0 is now live on all platforms,” it wrote. “Halloween updates + UI improvements are here.”

Blackout Mode changes
The studio teased the patch ahead of time in a separate post. “Blackout Mode is getting major upgrades in v4.2.0, coming very soon,” it wrote.
Four changes appeared in that preview. Scarecrows now have lighting support, and chests and weapons emit light. Mobs’ eyes also glow in the dark, which lets players spot enemies that would otherwise stay hidden.
The last addition is an item. According to the announcement, the Pumpkin Lantern grants “+40% light radius.”
The mode’s mechanics weren’t described in either post. The patch list suggests Blackout Mode is built around light sources and visibility, since each change on it adds a source of light or makes something easier to spot.
Open questions
No full patch notes came out with the launch post. MattleFun didn’t detail what the UI improvements include, and apart from the pumpkin-themed lantern it didn’t identify which items make up the Halloween content.
The preview post also had no release date. It said only that the update was “coming very soon,” and the follow-up later confirmed the launch.
Background
Mattle Run is a pixel wave-survival game built into MattleFun’s Solana trading platform. It borrows the Vampire Survivors formula: players hold off waves of enemies that keep coming.
Trading feeds directly into the game. Volume put through the platform’s built-in trading terminal, which is powered by Jupiter, converts into Boosting Points, and players spend those points to raise character stats such as Health, Defense, Movement and Luck.
Daily missions and promotional airdrops are other routes to progress. MATTLE is the project’s own token on Solana.
MattleFun is available on Android and in web browsers, and it supports Solana's Seeker handset. In October 2025 the project won a Solana Mobile Hackathon prize and added Solana Name Service integration. It remains in beta.
The launch announcement ran just two lines: “v4.2.0 is now live on all platforms” and “Halloween updates + UI improvements are here.”
