The Rookie Debut drop from NBA Top Shot (official site) launches on Wednesday, November 11. It opens Series 2026-27 and puts the 2026-27 rookie class on the collectibles platform. Every Rookie Debut Moment captures a play from a rookie’s NBA debut or his first career basket. The mint for this season’s set is /500, which is half of what last season’s set used.
This rookie class has already supplied plenty of footage. The No. 2 and No. 3 picks, both early favourites for Rookie of the Year, debuted on the same floor in Memphis on October 21. Less than two minutes in, Darryn Peterson floated in his first career basket. With Cameron Boozer on the court, his Grizzlies outscored the Jazz by 32, the best plus-minus the franchise has ever recorded in a season opener. AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 pick, scored his first basket on October 28 with an alley-oop slam three minutes into his debut.
Rookie Debut parallels and supply
There are four Rookie Debut parallels:
- Standard /500
- Blockchain /99
- Hardcourt /50
- Galactic /5
Top Shot has never made a scarcer Rookie Debut tier than the Galactic /5. Each rookie will have only five Galactics in existence, and if the rookie is a partnered Top Shot Athlete, all five carry his signature. The drop includes 38 rookies, and the set will add more over the course of the season.
Almost the entire class arrives at once. Drop 1’s packs hold between 95% and 99% of this drop’s Rookie Debut supply, counting every parallel. For each first-round pick in the drop, all five Galactics are in those packs. Top Shot is holding a small remainder for later drops and lists the current supply of each edition on the platform.
Rookie Ultimate and the rest of the drop
Where Rookie Debut is about the first basket, Rookie Ultimate is about the entire first game. It is a longer reel of a rookie’s debut, minted as a 1/1. This drop hides three of them: one in a Premium Pack, one in a Box Topper and one in a Collector Pack.
The drop also contains three other sets:
- A set of each team’s top play as the season tips off, released in full in this drop. Standard /199, Hexwave /25, Jukebox /10. Collectors who complete it get an exclusive Moment of Jalen Brunson and the Knicks raising their first championship banner in 53 years, on ring night at the Garden.
- Fresh Threads, showing stars in their first games wearing new colours. It remains open through the trade deadline so that players traded at the deadline can be included, then closes with a challenge reward of its own. Standard /99, Hexwave /25, Jukebox /10.
- Base Set, the flagship set, with one play from each team and additions throughout the season. Standard /4,000, Club Collection /99.
Both Rookie Debut and Base Set will keep expanding during the season. Completing either one earns an exclusive pack after it closes.
Every Moment is minted before ordering opens
Before ordering starts, all Moments in the five sets are minted and visible on Top Shot. Collectors can verify supply numbers on their own, watch each Moment and place offers in advance. A Moment’s page lists its Standard alongside every parallel, and clicking a parallel brings up its analytics.
On the analytics page is a table covering every serial. It lists the owner, whether the serial is owned, locked, out of circulation or still in a pack, and the price if it’s listed. Offers work on any individual serial, which is useful for anyone hunting a specific jersey number or a #1.
With the Remaining in Packs view, collectors can see which pack holds each unopened copy. If you want a particular rookie’s Galactic, a Jukebox or one exact serial, you can find out which pack it’s in before you order.
How ordering works
Access gives you the chance to order. Buyers still have to place and pay for their orders, and packs get assigned when ordering closes on November 11. Guaranteed or early-access packs that nobody claims shift into the public draw an hour before each close.
Every quest opens on Thursday, November 5 at 3:00 PM ET. Each quest you complete adds one order. Orders are filled for the first collectors to claim each quest. If you finish a quest after its guaranteed spots run out, you still get early access to that pack. Those orders carry no guarantee, though the odds beat the public draw.
Trading in Moments is another route, with the top bids winning packs outright.
Packs in the lineup include:
- Case Topper (1 Moment), Premium Pack (12 Moments) and 10 Collector Packs
- Box Topper (2 Moments, from two different rookies) and 4 Collector Packs
