Atari is Not Associated Anymore With… Atari Token

Atari Token

Atari made a shocking announcement yesterday, April 18th, stating that they terminated their partnership with ICICB Group, meaning that the gaming company is no longer associated with Atari tokens.

This caused a worldwide surprise as investors saw the token’s price decrease rapidly, currently at $0.01. Atari reassured ATRI token holders that a snapshot was taken on Monday afternoon, and a new token release is set for a later date.

“Create, distribute and solely manage a new proprietary token with a focus on gaming, community, and utility.” These were the words Atari told the existing shareholders.

Apparently Atari plans to develop a new token, although is yet unclear what will happen with the existing since it’s its now… unlicensed.

Atari has made a debut into the crypto and NFT space years ago with a series of partnerships including The Sandbox, Enjin, Ultra, Decentraland and other known brands. The company was planning to release a crypto-based version of Roller Coaster tycoon and Good Squad as reported back in 2018 but its yet to be delivered.

Moreover Atari is the first company to launch a gaming console that supports Web3 games, the ATARI VCS.
