The big fish of Web3 have formed an alliance to ensure several virtual worlds are interoperable. They’ve come together to build a borderless and open metaverse called OMA3 (The Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3).
The newly formed group of prominent Web3 giants will ensure that the users have full freedom of their information and solve key challenges in the space.
Several projects are joining the alliance with Animoca Brands. These include Dapper Labs, Star Atlas, The Sandbox, Alien Worlds, and Decentraland. The alliance also includes blockchain gaming company Upland, DAO framework developer Wivity, and game developer Space.
Along with this Web3 alliance of blockchain organizations, There’s been another alliance made – the Founding members include Meta (Previously Facebook), Alibaba, Microsoft, and Sony. They announced another metaverse alliance called Metaverse Standards Forum.
“We believe in a metaverse without restraining walls, where individual platforms are interconnected and fully interoperable,” said OMA3 in a blog post.
OMA3 said that the DAO would be guided by transparency, inclusivity, and Web3 principles. “The standards we create are guided by the goals of true ownership and real-time interoperability,” said the group.
OMA3 said that the alliance will ensure that the metaverse is built and working in a way where the users are the real owners of their digital assets, not the companies. OMA3 also made it clear that users would be able to freely transfer their assets within any of the OMA3 worlds without taking permission from the platform.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, made the following statement:
“Digital property rights represent a society-defining generational shift that impacts everyone online and will set the stage for the emergence of the open metaverse… We are deeply honored to continue to enjoy strong support from investors as we work to solidify the leadership position of Animoca Brands in the Web3 industry and in the field of true digital ownership”
