Calamity Previews Upcoming Map While Ronin Urges Players to Register

calamity previews upcoming map while ronin urges players to register In Brief:

In Brief:

  • According to Ronin, Calamity (official site) has teased a new map that’s coming soon, though no date or other details were shared.
  • Players were directed by Ronin to register at app.calamity.online.
  • The teaser arrives after Ronin promoted Dragon Rings on Sept. 29 as the game’s Founders NFT collection.

On Saturday, Ronin said Calamity has teased a new map that’s coming soon. The network didn’t share a name, a size or a release date.

The post points to the game’s app at app.calamity.online. Calamity hasn’t said publicly whether the map is linked to its next season or playtest.

The open-world plan

When it moved to Ronin, the team said a run of updates would lead up to a new version of the game. It described that version as “an immersive open-world sandbox MMORPG experience that builds upon the existing foundation.”

The studio hasn’t said whether the teased map belongs to that version.

This wouldn’t be the first time Calamity has added new areas. Its patch notes from Aug. 19, 2025 brought in two city zones. The first was the Factory Zone, which the notes said would eventually be limited to Factory holders. The second was Dragon Hall, where future access was planned only for Dragon Ring holders.

Dragon Rings in focus

The teaser lands less than three weeks after Ronin showcased Dragon Rings to its community. Ronin called the collection Calamity’s Founders NFTs on Sept. 29.

“Each Ring unlocks exclusive onchain and in-game benefits for holders, including boosts inside Calamity,” Ronin wrote in that post. It gave no details on what the boosts are or how large they would be.

Every Ring began as an Artifact on Base. Through a migration interface that opened April 28, holders burned their Artifacts, and a corresponding Dragon Ring landed automatically in their connected Ronin wallet. They didn’t have to submit a claim transaction.

According to the team, 5% of the WYRM token supply will go to Dragon Ring holders as an airdrop at the token generation event. How much each holder gets depends on the rarity of the original Artifact. After TGE, the Rings are expected to become eligible for staking.

Staking a Ring also unlocks a special in-game title, and each Ring comes with a cosmetic dragon companion NFT. The team has also said the Rings will produce daily scrolls that increase EXP and item drop rates, and that scroll power scales with the ring’s rarity.

Ronin Market’s listing puts total supply at 1,077 Rings.

The game

Calamity is a free-to-play 2D action MMORPG from Calamity Studios. It blends real-time combat with dungeons, boss fights, PvP, crafting and a marketplace run by players. World of Warcraft, Lineage, Diablo and Albion Online are among the influences the team has named.

The game supports both solo and co-op play. When it migrated to Ronin, it listed three classes, 30 customizable stats, more than 40 skills and more than 150 items.

All gameplay is off-chain. NFT claiming and trading take place in a separate browser dashboard, and players can start without a wallet or any NFTs. In the in-game economy, 100 Gold is pegged to $1.

Players can find Calamity on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Android, and iOS via TestFlight.

Playtests and rewards

Calamity distributes WYRM through a system it calls “Play-to-Airdrop.” Rewards are based on leaderboard rank, NFT holdings and contributions to the Wyrm Tribute, a compete-to-earn pool that pays out USDC according to player performance.

From Dec. 19 to 23, 2025, the game held its Icebound Season playtest. That test debuted the mobile version and trialed a 3v3 PvP arena. It also opened the Factory Zone and Dragon Hall, introduced fishing, and split 3 million WYRM across several leaderboards.

Next came a $50,000 playtest from March 12 to 22, 2026, made up of five days of PvE followed by five days of ranked PvP. Rewards came to roughly $45,000 in WYRM along with $5,000 USDC. The test also brought more than 140 new items, a reworked crafting system and a ranked arena featuring Combatant and Duelist leagues.

A previous playtest added guilds that could hold up to 75 members, with Leader, Officer, Sponsor and Scholar roles. Sponsors put Gold into a guild treasury and received a cut of the Gold produced by their Scholars.

In that test, the Wyrm Tribute pool began at 2,000 RON, with an exchange rate of 500 Gold to 1 RON.
