No one can play Grand Theft Auto 6 yet, but the game has reportedly earned around $630 million (Rs. 5,950 crore) already.
The estimate is from Sensor Tower. The analytics firm puts pre-orders at 6.45 million across PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. Neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has shared its own pre-order data, so this is a third-party figure. Read it as a strong indicator of demand, not a confirmed count.
Most pre-orders are on PS5
Sony’s console has a clear lead. By Sensor Tower’s count, 74 percent of pre-orders are for PS5 and 26 percent are for Xbox.
That works out to an estimated 4.8 million PS5 copies worth $468 million, against roughly 1.66 million Xbox copies worth $162 million. Most of the players heading to Vice City will be doing it on PlayStation.
Take-Two is pleased but isn’t sharing figures
Take-Two hasn’t given a number, though it has talked about the results. At the Q1 FY2027 earnings call in August, CEO Strauss Zelnick described the game’s early pre-order performance as “exceptional.” During the questions that followed, he called the numbers “unprecedented.”
Zelnick spoke to CNBC after the call and said pre-orders had gone past what the company expected. Demand for the $100 Ultimate Edition was also above expectations, he said. The Standard Edition is $80, which means plenty of buyers are paying $20 more without having seen any gameplay.
The first week of pre-orders set a record
Newzoo has been tracking the game’s revenue too. In a report released in mid-July, the market research firm said GTA 6 had the strongest opening week of any pre-order campaign, with digital pre-order revenue estimated at $180 million (approximately Rs. 1,734 crore).
Newzoo’s launch week projection is far larger. It thinks GTA 6 could take in between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion worldwide during its first week, which might also be a record. That number is a forecast, and Newzoo itself says only that it “might” happen.
Vice City marketing has reached Miami
Rockstar’s campaign has also shown up in Miami, the real city that Vice City parodies. Fans have spotted new GTA 6 marketing around town, including themed Metrorail pillars, a Burger Shot ad and a Vice City sign in Wynwood. Those sightings are credited to TK/Pierce Tetlow and Benji RR.
GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on November 19, 2026. Pre-orders are open on the digital PlayStation and Xbox stores, and 6.45 million people have reportedly bought it there so far.
