In Brief:
- Splinterlands introduces its initial Escalation Conflict, named “A Call to Arms: Snot on My Watch.”
- Participants can deploy Mage Wagons and stake assets for exclusive rewards, including the inaugural Escalation Archon.
- The engaging conflict cycle spans approximately 30 days, emphasizing player contributions.
Escalation Conflict Begins
Splinterlands has officially launched its premier event in the Escalation series, titled “A Call to Arms: Snot on My Watch.” Participants are encouraged to utilize Mage Wagons to contribute resources to combat the newly introduced enemy – a green sludge creature called Meredrool threatening the Shimmering Coasts. Rewards will be distributed based primarily on player contributions during the event.
The event is set to run for about 30 days, with a visible countdown at its commencement to track contributions. Players that stake assets will earn points based on their input, and these points will be crucial for climbing up the leaderboard once the event concludes.
Gameplay Mechanics
To participate, players can purchase Mage Wagons for 10,000 DEC or 10,000 Credits, which enables them to stake cards and packs to accrue points. The framework favors active participants, with the quality and rarity of staked cards influencing the number of points earned. Thus, higher-quality cards help players achieve a better ranking on the leaderboard.
Each Mage Wagon can hold a maximum of five cards and 100 packs but remains soulbound, restricting its transfer, rental, or sale capabilities. Players are also able to craft Wagon Kits at the Artisan Quarter using specific resources. To manage asset flow efficiently, cooldown periods are applied: a 15-minute cooldown on adding cards and a 60-minute cooldown for bulk actions. Importantly, while cards are staked, they can still be used in brawls or tournaments but are locked from trading or selling.
Escalation Mini-Set Details
Prior to the event, Splinterlands launched a pre-sale for the Escalation mini-set, incorporating over 43 new cards of varying rarities. Packs from this set, priced at $5, were made available for purchase with DEC, Credits, or SPS. The drop probabilities were set as follows: 75.2% for common cards, 20% for rare, 4% for epic, 0.8% for legendary, and 2% for gold foil cards. This system encourages the utilization of the newest cards while still valuing older assets from sets like Rebellion.
About Splinterlands
Known as one of the original web3 games, Splinterlands operates on the Hive blockchain and features collectible card battles. New players can start free in Frontier Mode or buy a Spellbook for comprehensive access to marketplace features. Various play modes are available, including brawls and tournaments, with regular updates introducing novel characters and gameplay mechanic tweaks.
Economic Implications
The Conflicts system not only injects excitement but serves as a critical economic tool within Splinterlands. Spending tokens in these events helps diminish supply in the overarching economy, while inherently rewarding active gameplay. The Escalation series brings exclusive rewards, promoting the game’s continuous narrative development, and enriching player engagement.
As Splinterlands aptly stated regarding the ongoing conflict, “the war effort has begun,” inviting players to maximize their contributions to secure the first-ever Archon reward.
